Application Details

In 2022 Chippewa Park will be celebrating its 100th +1 Anniversary of the official opening. The Friends of Chippewa Park plan on celebrating this remarkable history with a 5-day family festival at the park. Here are the dates and times that we are currently planning for:

  • Thursday, July 28    6 pm to 11 pm

  • Friday, July 29          6 pm to 1 am

  • Saturday, July 30     1 pm to 1 am

  • Sunday, August 31    1 pm to 1 am

  • Monday, August 1    1 pm to 1 am

We have arranged to have the small, portable stage owned by the City of Thunder Bay (the one from the Waterfront) along with sound and lighting equipment normally associated with its use. This will be our main stage and will be placed in Field 1 (immediately adjacent to the main entrance road.)

We are looking for 40 acts for the stage along with buskers and street performers. We are looking for performers that cater to children to entertain them at their festival. We anticipate each act performing for an hour with a headline act each night performing for 3 hours (Friday through Monday). Some acts will be shorter depending on the nature of what they are presenting. For example, comedians may perform for a half hour or less depending on their circumstances. Dance groups may also be scheduled for a 30-minute performance.

We are also organizing a Children’s Festival that will run from 1 to 4 each of the three weekend days incorporating the stage on the lake side of the Pavilion where our Sundays in the Park Concert Series is held. We are looking for acts that specialize in performing for children for this venue.

Finally, we will be resuming our Sunday in the Park concert series this summer so please use this form to submit your application to play at the park this summer. Each concert runs from 2 pm to 4 pm with a 15 minute break between sets.

Please take the time to fill out the form to the right in order to register to be one of the acts we will hire for the Festival. We want this to not only be a celebration of the Park’s history but a celebration of what makes Thunder Bay such a wonderful community.
